Carol Heisler
The Artist
My love of fabrics began at the very early age of six. My grandmother was the seamstress. My mother loved new curtains. I loved going along to the fabric store, walking along feeling the different fabrics and wishing I could have just a small piece of each one. Sometimes it would take many trips just to find the right fabric, but I didn't mind. It gave me yet another chance to daydream about what I might one day make with the beautiful textures and patterns I was surrounded by.
Years past, and I eventually went to college and earned a degree in fine arts and art history. I was always best at three dimensional art, weaving and sculpture. I had to feel what I was creating. So it wasn't a far departure for me to eventually become a quilter. Ten years ago I took a leap of faith and decided to leave the corporate world for a life filled with fabrics. Looking back, my only regret is that I didn't leap ten years earlier.
I am one of the very few but fortunate who get to earn their living everyday doing something creative. I am blessed to be able to sew and design and complete quilts that will bring you joy, happiness and memories for years to come. |
